Basic Linguistics is a foundational course for Studies and Research in Language Studies. It aims to lay a strong base for the advanced studies in micro and macro linguistics. With the introductory unit on basic definitions, genesis and features of language, the course focusses on the understanding of theoretical concepts of Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology and Syntax. The course also includes a rigorous training in phonetic transcription, word stress, accent and intonation.
